Context
Crisp is a customer support chat platform. Its users wanted to add it to their React Native and Expo apps as easily as on the web.
The challenge
The existing SDK was ageing and exposed only part of the native features. The mission was to maintain it; what it really needed was a redesign, without breaking the apps already in production.
What we shipped
- A new SDK, from architecture to npm release
- Native iOS modules in Swift and Android in Kotlin, on Expo Modules
- 25+ methods and 7 events surfaced to the app
- An Expo config plugin: native setup happens on its own
- Crisp notifications that coexist with the app’s own
- Docs, Expo and bare examples, a migration guide
